Quilt Title:  Love of the Ages
First Name:  Judy
Last Name:  Masur
City:  Linwood
State:  KS
Finished Size:  24 x 40 inches
Techniques used:  Machine piecing, needleturn applique, hand quilting and machine quilting
Explain your interpretation of "Opposites Attract":  This quilt is an interpretation in fabric of a picture of my daughter at one week old meeting her Great Grandfather for the first time. She is the only Great Grandchild that he ever met. There is no greater attraction, in my mind, than that between the very young and the very old. The greater the distance in age, the greater the love between them.
Which design aspect did you find most challenging?:  This is the first time I have ever created faces in fabric. The most challenging part for me is quilting the faces. I have done minimal quilting in order to complete the project in the time alloted which does not create the effect that I was wanting. So, when the quilt is returned, my plan is to add more quilting on the faces.
Which design aspect did you find most enjoyable?:  I have enjoyed the whole process of this and the previous challenges. It has pushed me to reach beyond my comfort zone and strive for more. Due to the time frames involved, I have had to accept a lesser quailty of work from myself than I am used to, and have learned to move on in spite of the inperfections.
that is very nice, hope you get grand chap.

You have captured the essence of this in a big way! The faces are incredibly done, the baby looks so sweet and innocent and the grandfather shows the love that a grandfather has for his grandchildren. Very well done Judy!

Exceptionally fine representations of the faces and hands. As a former art teacher, I have seen many drawings and paintings that have not equalled this fine artistic rendition. And it is a wonderful sentiment of Greats - grandfather and granddaughter! Wonderful.
